An American bock-style lager brewed with three unique malts including roasted and caramel and specialty malts. This dark mahogany lager has a rich, nutty aroma with a gentle hint of caramel malt sweetness. This American-style bock has a deep malty body that pours with a tall head.

Draught: Poured a brown with light color head. The aroma is a roasted malt/nuts. The flavor was similar and fairly drinkable.

A nice aroma, but of what? Iβm guessing toasted malt. Dark brown color with a head that ringed immediately. The body is thin to medium, and the carbonation is moderate, but somewhat harsh. The flavor is dark caramel, and the hop is not there. The finish is roasty, toasty malt. Not sweet though. Good, but not if there are decent ales available.

Roasted malt aroma. Pours dark rust with minimal head. Tastes of licorice and hops, almost like cola. Leaves nothing on the palate.

Had this many times in the past but wanted to give it a fair shake and rate it as I drink. So it is not a memory ticker. My results may be biased. This is an old favorite βdarkβ brew from before the days of rating beer. I really wanted to compare this to the newer porter and barvarian wheat beers AB recently came out with. Slight yeast roasty aroma after I twist off the cap on the 12 oz brown bottle. Dark brown but not opaque color. Has some orangish hint in hue as well. A well behaved initial smooth flavor that is very gentle-manly like. Very good flavor that is easy to like. It is finished, refined and processed. Good tingly carbonation that makes it creamy and easy to enjoy. This is in the same class as shiner boch and killiams red. I may even have to say it is right up there with yuenglings black and tan. Nice creamy release of bubbles after each sip. Finish leaves you wanting more, not rebellious in any way. Enjoyable, fun, dark, repeatable.

Bottle. Slightly sweet malt flavor. Dark brown color with small head. Malt flavor with hint of maple syrup. Weaker body. I guess an effort to steal some of the Shiner Bock market - would take a Shiner over this but itβs still better than their pale lagers.

Bottle. Leave it to a macro to call this beer a Dark beer. Pours reddish brown. The color is about the only feature of this beer that I would classify as "dark". Certainly not a bock.

For a mass distribution beer that can be seen at $5-6 for a sixer, this beer is not bad at all. Decent flavor of malts, brown sugar, and caramels. Not a beer to seek out, but a sure winner when only cheap lagers are present.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Beautiful, clear dark amber with a neat, creamy, off-white head. Vague aroma of caramel. Light-bodied, sweetish malty notes of roasted malt and caramel. Lightly tart edge from the brewing cereals. 190306
