Our Black Marlin Porter stands out in a town known primarily for its IPA’s. We craft it from a unique blend of roasted and crystallized malts that give it a smooth, chocolaty, caramel profile. Then toss in a healthy dose of American hops to serve up full-bodied flavor worthy of its San Diego roots.

Draught @ Haket. Pours dark reddish blackish brown with a frothy mocha head that slowly dissipates while leaving some thick lacing on the glass. Smell is subtle and malty with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, moist soil, burnt cookies, charred wood, cocoa powder, hay and burnt cereal. Taste is bitter, tiny sour and malty with roasted malts, burnt wood, moist soil, cocoa powder, dark roast coffee, hay, biscuits, burnt toast and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is round, tiny watery, tiny roasted astringent and light to medium bodied. Finish is bitter with roasted malts, moist soil, cocoa powder, dark roast coffee, burnt toast and hay. Nicely drinkable...

Draft. From notes. Coffee and chocolate with a bit of dark fruit. Pretty good, but I’ve had better from these guys.

22oz bottle pours a very dark brown with slight redish highlights. Easily coaxed a thick pillowy light tan head leaving thick bands of lacing as it receded. Light roasted leathery earthy aromas, and slightly bitter charred flavor. A little metallic on the trailer. A nice porter though. Smooth and drinkable.

Bottle, 22oz. A clear, dark brown to black beer with a dense light beige head. Roasted malts, licorice and molasses notes and some burnt hints on the aroma. The flavor pretty much the same, quite dry and with a pleasant level of carbontation. Licorice, roasted malts, coffee and some dark chocolate, and a roasted-bitter touch. Full body, soft carbonation and a lasting roasted finish with some extra chocolate. Nice indeed. 130811

Bottle at BrewDog, Bristol. Pours out a very dark brown colour with a medium sized beige head. Roasted aroma of chocolate and caramel. Roasted finish. Texture appeared rather too thin for its 6% abv.

Served on Nitro. Opaque brown black body, Thin, patchy beige head. Deep and rich, this is a really balanced, excellent Porter. Big roasty chocolate tone, but also a nice hop balance. Rich, woderfully executed. Phenomenal, World Class.

Tap. Pours deep reddish brown with a medium tan creamy head that slowly dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is standard roasted malts, coffee, cigarettes, dark chocolate. Flavor is about the same, light sweet and light bitter, chocolate notes present but not overpowering. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Not bad at all.
