Another huge thanks to SHIG for these Italian beauties. Thanks Shawn! Pours dirty deep copper with tan head. The aroma is mild and seems neutral. I eventually get faint notes of yeasty winter like spices, a sense of malts, some roasted malts and a touch of berry to spiced apple fruitiness. The taste has carbonation enhanced sweet berry to apple fruitiness followed by winter and yeasty spices. Into the finish berry fruit like sweetness as well as a touch of caramel and faint dark fruity esters close out the experience.

Bottle 37,5 cl. RBESG Rome 2010. Pours a cloudy and opaque dark nutty brown with an off-white head. Discreet and lightly tart aroma - a little wood and burned caramel. Medium body, again lightly tart, some sulphur and nuts and a surprisingly good carbonation. A little cough syrup as wel. The alcohol only really shows in the finish that only has a vague bitterness. 020610

cheers to Shig for bringing this one from Italy. pours cloudy brown, tna head. aroma is yeasty, malty, light caramel, candi sugar. flavors, similar to aroma, lingering caramel malts, with some astringency, overly yeasty, fruits, some herbal notes leaning on the tea side. Not bad, but something a little off for the barleywine style.

37.5 cL bottle at Bir and Fud. Pours deep amber, clear and golden with a small off-white head. Fruity and dense malty aroma with a light alcohol note. Sweet malty flavoured with a nice fruity touch. Light sticky texture. Lasting sweet malty and fruity flavoured into the far finish. Apparently last batch from 2008, still quite young.

Good beige head, frothy over hazy dark-amber beer. Discreet chocolate aroma, dark green leaves. Sweet & bitter chocolate vie with each other in the taste; generally well-balanced, tipped of nicely by some alcohol & esters retronasal. Lot of alcoholwarming, also burning MF, but very restrained, that. Very slick & oily. Nice forceful beer, full of character and assertiveness! This is a really good one by Troll.
