Leviathan Baltic Porter

The appearance was a dark brown/black body, a one finger white head appeared and lasted for about a half minute before dieing to a film on top of the body. Some spider web lacing lasted for about several seconds before sliding into the body.
The smell had roasted malts and dark fruits up front and combined nicely. Some dark chocolate enters in as the beer warms.
The taste was sweet and smoky in a rich sort of feel, perhaps due to the chocolate that comes out more so in the taste.
The palate was about a medium and leads to a decent sipper due to the ABV level, so not exactly drinkable.
Overall, this is a good beer well worthy of coming back if I lived in its distro.

12 ounce bottle from Grape & Gourmet, VA Beach. Pours a clear dark ruby color with a large frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and the faintest hint of raisin. The taste is big chocolate notes, roasted malts, herbal hop finish. Medium bodied. Nice beer.

Cask Brewery Deep dark brown on the pour. Black throughout. 3 finger head leathery. Smell is sort of campfire like with some brown sugar and yeah just a lot of smokiness Taste very sweet up front, followed by a very mellow and smooth toasty character like almonds and pistachios. Semi sweet with a small presence of chocolate Malts. Finish is molasses Very low carbonation being a cask. Heavy body.

Bottled. A red-brown beer with a thin tan head - not really the look of a Baltic Porter. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt as well as well some caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and alcohol, the latter burning lightly on the tongue.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity and dark roasted malty. Roasted malty, caramelish and liqourice. Dark roasted malt and slight sweetness. Ends dark roasted malty.

clear amber. smooth white head. dry aroma, roasted stuff, faint malty sweetness, fait licorice. flavor is wood, roasted stuff, licorice, dryness. Very nice.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of RCL. Pours a dark brown with a warm orange hue with a beige head. Sweet hard roast and a little tar in the nose. Solid body, hard roast malts, vanilla and licorice again with a slight touch of tar and smoke. Some malt astringency. 150311

Pours a really dark brown with the faintest of ruby highlights when held to light. Stingy beige head dissipates quickly. Smells of brown sugar, alcohol, a bit of roast, some faint dark fruit. Tastes of dark fruit and alcohol followed by some light roast, and leaving a lingering chocolate/coffee. Mouthfeel is creamy body is medium to thick, carbonation is ample. Decent brew, definitely not my favorite Baltic porter, and definitely a sipper. Alcohol is bit to evident for me.

On tap at Stags Head Harpoon tasting. Had to buy a pint on my own as the taster ran out of funds and couldn’t pour anymore. this is very dark purplish blacky brown. pretty thin head. but it just looks delicious. taste is of sweet roasted malt, and chocolates, molasses, tobacco. finishes slightly bitter and earthy with a little alcohol burn.
