Deep brown and cloudy. Beige frothy head. Aromas of dried fruits and leather most dominant, which is also the main flavour as well with a alcohol touch. Light and nice balanced bitterness which stays. Medium carbo and medium body. Some slick and watery mouthfeel. Overall a decent christmasbrew, but would be even nicer with more spices.

0.75l bottle kindly provided by InBreak and shared with The Tasting Crew + friends. This is a dark dark brown - almost black - beer with a nice big bubbly light khaki head. Aroma is light spicy with tones of cinnamon and caramel fudge. Average carbonation levels and a mild oily to slick mouthfeel. Nice flavors! It's dark caramel sweet with lots of background-cinnamon and it's also nicely hopped. Ends light dryish with a cocoa-oxidized finish and aftertaste. Really nice

Flaske 0,65l spandert av Rune under vennetreff hos ham 15 jan 11. Dyp rød / svart. Lavt skum. Aroma av søt frukt & bær. Søte bær dominerer også smaken. Litt uvariert.

750ml bottle, as Bøgedal 173, cellared properly after I bought it at Vinmonopolet Briskeby sometime in 2009. Compact bottle with a cork and a wire cradle. Clean russet coloured body with a shiny bright surface. Moderate aroma of chocolate and caramel malts added by dry cheese. The taste is a quite nice blend of dark and brown malts with soft roastiness to it. Lighter notes of spices, too. Bittersweet on the swallow. Dry and clean tasting (shared with friends at a New Year party, Tromsø 15.01.2011).

Bottle, 75cl corked. A dark amber beer with a small, beige head. Chalky start on the aroma, with hints of licorice and alcohol, and coffee. The flavor is a bit chalky, with roasted malts, dried fruits and some chocolate. Medium body, dry. Roasted finish. It was quite good with some blue cheese, but on its own it didn’t suit my palate. 100521

750 ml "champagne" bottle, as Bøgedal No. 173, from Vinmonopolet Valkendorfsgate, Bergen (spesialutvalget). ABV is 6.5%. The cork popped to the ceiling, but the beer did not gush out. Very moderate carbonation in the glass. Very dark brown colour, cloudy, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Very nice aroma of caramel, bakery and spices, hints of liquorice. The flavour is "christmasy" with notes of caramel malts and season’s spices, also notes of chocolate, mild coffee and liquorice. Moderate but noticeable hops. Quite good.

Bottled. A brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of caramel and brown sugar as well as lighter notes of bread - and something burnt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, nuts, and nutmeg.
