This lightly copper coloured beer is a collab with BC’s Smugglers Trail Caskworks and came to life with a hefty dry hop of Vic Secret hops from Hops Connect, a Canadian hop supplier.
Along with the Vic Secret, it features Chinook and Simcoe hops which come together to create a big West Coast IPA with a malty, biscuity base and a bitter bite (say that ten times fast). The aroma is resinous, piney and dank, with tropical undertones and candied fruit notes on the finish.
And no, don’t even think about sneaking this one past us.

473 ml can. Pours amber with light head. Aromas of doughy malts, soft resiny pine, breadfruit, and a little tropical fruit. Flavors of bitter grapefruit, pineapple, and bready malts with just a bit of pine. A nice IPA, but just a bit too malty and soft for me.

Poured from 473mL can (pkg 06 Feb 2025). Clear gold with small white head. Soft caramel malt with light resin and pine hops, very feint tropical notes, well balanced, very nice.

473mL can, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma has plenty of resinous hops, light pine, and plenty of dry, bready, caramel malt to back. Flavour is amply bitter, with plenty of resinous hops, bitter pine, and still a solid malt backbone that doesn’t overdo it. Excellent west coast from the east coast.
