Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroma has tons of dried dark fruits, figs, raisins, resinous hops, malt, caramel, plums, touch of dried blackcurrant, syrup. Flavour is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Body is above medium. Nice and hoppy Barley Wine, tasty dried dark fruits, refreshing after I had a string of boozy toffeebomb Barley Wines. Slightly reminiscent of Anchor Old Foghorn, although not nearly as refined.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Caramel, raisin and milk chocolate in the aroma. Malty sweet roasty raisinny caramelly flavor with a hint of ash. Grassy, herbal hops. Decent, but a bit too sweet.

Almost black with thin head. Aroma and flavour have an abundance of sweet dried fruits, caramel and dark malts. Also some roasted, slightly burnt notes. There’s a background hoppiness which is slightly resinous and skunky.

Bottle shared. Very dark brown with good sized dark beige head. Lots of roast, nuts, cocoa, cardboard, quite some grass, soft lime, a lit of old moldy oak, dry paper, black currants. Medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied with a bit dry and tannic finish. A bit dry and woody for a barley wine maybe but it’s quite nice overall.

Sweet malty nose. Opaque dark brown colour with a ruby hue, tall frothy tan head, good retention, fair lacing. Aroma roasted malts, caramel, dark fruits, licorice, brown sugar, after a while also cocoa and coffee. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, roasty, chocolate, caramel. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, spicy notes. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, a rich and strong ale.
