Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. There’s a powerful aroma of malts, oats, chocolate and cocoa. In the mouth it is creamy and smooth. Flavour has chocolate, cherries and dark fruits with just a hint of citrus. Finish is quite sweet, and slightly dry. This is very nice indeed – nicely understated, doesn’t go overboard.

Cask @ New Oxford, Salford. Near black with a small off-white head. Cherry dominates in both aroma and taste and is very rich.
