For our take on the classic hefeweizen style our search for unique ingredients led us to the Eureka and Lisbon varieties of lemon grown in three different regions of California. These particular lemons added the perfect balance of citrus tartness and sweetness to accent the taste of the beer. The spiciness of the Hallertau Mittelfruh and Spalt Spalter hops balance out the slightly sweet character of our brewery's own signature wheat malt, resulting in a crisp and refreshing wheat beer with a subtle lemon aroma and flavor.

Bottle...pours cloudy dark straw with a small off white head....sour wheat aroma with some artificial lemon scent, like a kids cereal...taste is similar....except the lemon is almost like a dish detergent smell.....not a good wheat. Oh and its watery too....rating from 3-2-2010

12 oz. bottle thanks to Dan, I think... or whoever left this in my fridge. Pours a dark, straw color, with a medium, off-white head. The aroma is hay, oranges, light bubblegum, lemon juice, and coriander. Citrusy sweetness, a touch of bready yeast, and a light, lemony tartness. Light body, chewy, and lightly acidic. Overall, this is a fair wheat beer. Hits most of the key points of the style, but the flavor is weak, and the mouthfeel is lacking.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a slightly hazy copper/yellow body that has a small white head that appears for just a minute and slowly dies to a carbonated looking layer coating the top of the beer. The lacing is spotty and leaves some rings. There isn’t any carbonation seen rising.
The smell had some citrus and some bread. I definitely smell the yeast, in fact, the yeast almost comes out overpowering.
The taste did not seem to be balanced as the yeast comes out overpowering again. The wheat tries to come out and play but pretty much stays in the background. A certain blandness comes out in the taste that makes me wanna question what was Boston Beer Company thinking.
The palate was extremely watery and the carbonation stays where it should - basically balanced, sessionable.
Overall, decent for the style, but I couldn’t get into this one.

Bottle: Pale golden color with a light haze and lots of bubbles. A finger of creamy white head. The lemon is strong in the aroma, along with a little maltiness, and lighter florals. Taste is more wheat oriented than the aroma would suggest; wheat, light grass, and just enough lemon/citrus to notice. Sessionable.

bottle - Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Lemon is clearly pleasant in the aroma along with some mild wheat. The flavor is sweet, citrusy and rather bland. It’s light bodied and refreshing in the summer, but offers little more to recommend it. Decent.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Lots of lemon and wheat. Not bad, but Sam Adams has a lot better stuff.
