This full-bodied Scotch style ale is aged with French oak, adding a delicious nutty vanilla flavor to this deceptively strong ale. Named after Esbon R. Cole, one of Hightstown’s only undertakers in the mid-1800’s. Years before his own death, he built a plain, yet substantial, metal casket to be buried in.

16 ounce can. Number one with a bullet. Bright orange copper color. Brief beige head. Toasted malt aroma has nutty notes. Flavor is bittersweet with a touch of oak and vanilla. Big warming notes of alcohol. Sweet and sticky mouthfeel. Lacks the peaty, smokiness usually associated with the style. Still, a unique interpretation that would benefit with some aging.
