Cask, handpump at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, 09.08.10 Pours gold with a medium white head. Light citrus and some malt show on the nose. Crikey this has a really strung out bitterness, streaky shards of bitterness whip around and cling to the roof of the mouth with some pithy lemon also showing. There is some sweetened lemon flavours otherwise there is little in the way of sweetness. Possibly one of the bitterest beers I’ve ever had from Vale and if this wasn’t served just a tad warm, an occasional issue in the summer months with this otherwise very good pub then this would have scored even higher.
