Another new hop variety to the fore. Pale gold beer with ’Sonnet’ aroma hops, from the farm in Oregon that provides the Amarillo variety. Sonnet is a Saaz variant with Goldings characteristics, so expect high floral aroma and soft bitterness.

Cask, gravity at Merton Summer Beer Festival 16-07-10 I also had this a couple of weeks ago at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks. When I had this at the Hop Pole I was distinctly underwhelmed by it but in fairness it was during a very hot spell and this was served a little warm. Poured pale gold with nice white head. Nicely bitter with some streaky citrus, quite simple and whilst not the best from Crouch Vale perfectly enjoyable and tasty enough. A8 A3 T7 P3 Ov15 3.3
