Cask, handpump at Thame Brewpub - The Crosse Keys, Thame, Oxon 18-12-09 Pours amber with a slight haze and a slim white head. Aroma is very spicy, I get something like Star Anise and maybe a little nutmeg and cinnamon? Taste is also very spicy with the aforementioned spices appearing to show, touch fruity, it’s certainly Christmassy and whilst absolutely fine I think maybe a little too spicy for me, some of the more usual beery qualities have been a little swamped by the spiciness. A short time after I was discussing the Thame beers with the Landlord/Brewer Peter who informed me that he’d intended to make a liquid Christmas cake with raisin, peel, cinnamom, nutmeg etc, but by his own admission suggested that he’d slightly overdone it with the cinnamon. But an interesting and certainly seasonally flavoured beer nonetheless. A6 A3 F6 P3 Ov13 3.1
