330ml bottle. Quasi black colour with huge, thick, creamy, moderately to mostly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty and piney, resinous and slightly citrusy, fruity hoppy aroma, notes of coffee and dark chocolate, some orange, pineapple, green onion, mandarine. Taste is dry, roasty, minimally ashy, dark malty and bitter, piney, grassy, minimally citrusy fruity and waxy, hoppy, notes of coffee, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, some woody pineapple, mandarine zest; lingering, bitter roasty and bitter hoppy finish. Creamy texture, smooth and soft, minimally dry palate, fine, foamy carbonation. Well crafted, well balanced, could bear a tad more fruitiness - pretty good.
Quarantaine biertje, net negatief getest. Lekker hoppig, bittere afdronk. Lichte hinten van koffie.

Bottle from Secret Santa 2017. Thanks Benzai! Pours dark brown with a tall, foamy, sudsy head that settles but lingers. Aroma is fruity with a bit of citrus & tropical fruits. Underneath it all is the dark, sweet undertone of raisins, licorice, and woodsmoke. A rich concoction that this one manages to pull off—reminding me again why black IPAs are my favorite style. Taste is bitter, turning ever so slightly more bitter at the finish. Body is medium, carbonation is prickly. Overall I prefer the bittersweet ones to the bitter ones but this is still a very good example of the style.

Draft - Dark roast and piney notes. Jet black with a rich off white head. Roasty notes with a nice hoppy note. A bit soft and not as aggressive as I like, but still well balanced.

Bottle @ Benzai, 10 cl sample. Dark color, medium frothy head. Aroma of dark fruit like blackcurrant, coffee and roast. Medium bitterness, blending nicely with roasty maltiness. Good balance, could have been a bit more hoppy, but still very good. Stadsbrouwerij Eindhoven have some pleasant surprises once in a while.
