La Hobbiton est une triple New England IPA brassée en collaboration avec Freestyle Hops et avec nos bons amis du Ketch, avec lesquels nous en sommes rendu à notre 4e bière collaborative. Brassée avec une énorme quantité d'avoine maltée et en flocons, cette bière à d'abord été houblonnée au Whirpool avec le NZ Cascade et le Nelson Sauvin. Elle a ensuite été houblonné à froid avec les mêmes houblons, ainsi qu'avec le Wakatu, un cultivar que nous essayons pour la toute première fois. En résulte une bière particulièrement riche, autant en texture que d'un point de vu aromatique, avec ses notes de lime, de sauvignon blanc et de goyave. Une bière à boire avec précaution, ses 9,5% sont à peine perceptible.

(473ml can from L'Axe du Malt, Quebec City) Pours opaque yellow with a small white head and a little lace. Notes of fresh lime peel, white grape, gooseberry, floral guava, mixed berries, fresh grass, a bit of mixed citrus, soft doughy malt, only lightly sweet so quite dry for a TIPA, a bit bready maybe, dry finish with lime, grass, florals in the aftertaste and just a bit of hop burn (not a fresh can when consumed). Medium-bodied, slightly creamy, softly carbonated, no alcohol perceptible. Wish it was a little fresher (my fault) but a really nicely balanced NZ TIPA which drank way lighter than its ABV.
