Bottle @ home. Black colour with a lovely large dark brown head. Straight 5 imo. Smells chocolate, roasty, nutty, slightly oak. Not a whole lot of smell. Tastes roasty, sweet, slightly iron, chocolate. Aftertaste is beautiful, coffee and chocolate. Full body, soft carbo. Edit: i’ve let it warm up a little and the beer got even better. Bottle from The Beerhive. Black body with a thin tan head that gradually fades. Aroma of cherry, soy sauce and sweet red wine. Flavour of sharp berries, tannin and white sugar. Medium body with smooth, overly fizzy mouthfeel. This is a complex, intriguing beer. I much prefer beer aged in wine barrels than whisky/bourbon barrels.

Bottle shared with Koelschtrinker. Fast schwarze Farbe, große bräunliche schaumkrone. Geruch ist röstmalzig, Roggen, leicht schokoladig, holzig. Geschmack ist süß schokoladig malzig, mild röstmalzig, Kaffee, Roggen, Karamell. Toll.

BOTTLE 33 CL. Inky black, dark espresso head. The aroma has rich dark sweet chocolate, dark sugars, white grape skins and just a touch of spirit. Surprisingly easy drinking and well carbonated - like Belgian strongs - both because of body and low sweetness. The flavour is dark chocolate, balanced by a lot of carbonic acid and drying winey and boozy notes. Interesting, and quite different.
