(473ml can from The Wheeled, Barrie ON) Pours black with a thin mocha coloured head and spotty lace. Aroma is loads of maple syrup, dark burnt sugar layers, molasses, moderate roast, light chocolate, clear nutty notes that definitely have some pecan hits to them, more and more maple! Flavour is pretty high sweet but not quite to the level the nose suggests, lots of brown sugar and maple up front, some roast to the malt, drank fruit tones but not really raisin per se, pecan flavour bumps up from mid sip while the walnut really rolls in towards the finish with strong drying bitterness and a little alcohol warmth. Medium bodied, oily, low carbonation. Definitely on the border of too-sweet pastry and could use a touch more body for the sugars, but a nice combination of adjuncts.
