(Bottle pour @ Foire Brassicole, Quebec City, Oct 1/21) Pours nearly black with a tiny deep tan head and lace. Notes of sweet overrripe pineapple flesh, verging on canned, heavy creamy coconut, softly toasty with caramelized sugar layers and a bit of molasses, bitterness almost absent but some coco/choc earthiness in the middle to finish of the sip, overall balance is heavily sweet as expected but not cloying if consumed more like fortified wine/cocktail than beer, finish is still quite sweet and burnt sugar-laden with nice hits of coconut, canned pineapple and soft spirits. Full bodied and oily with very soft carbonation and reasonable warmth for the ABV. Very fun beverage, not to be thought of even as a pastry stout but rather as a digestif. On those grounds it was an immensely satisfying brew with well-handled adjuncts.
