(500ml 2019 bottle from the brewery) Pours inky black with a small tan ring. Aroma is a nice thick layer of peach brandy and spirit warmth over dark caramel, molasses, some dark chocolate smooth roast with an umami edge, dark fruit impressions, woody bitters. Flavour is fairly sweet dark chocolate and toffee up front, touch of cacao earthiness, quickly filling in with fruity brandy notes, peach but also a bit of something citrusy and clear spirit warmth, probably some complementary fruit from the malt base as well, drying out somewhat from mid-sip on with a clear spirit hit, dusty burnt grains, black coffee and cacao, drying wood, lingering fruity characteristics and bitter cacao/roast in the aftertaste. Medium-full oily body with very low carbonation. Lovely stuff, a little boozy maybe but the barrel is banging. Perhaps it's faded a touch since I've had this for a year myself, but it was still plenty warm so it'd have been a beast for booze when fresh. As it stands, a smooth non-pastry sipper with a unique fruity vibe.
