Black Isle Brewing took their Scotch Ale, which they described as "liquid fruitcake" (and suggested pairing with Glenmorangie Lasanta) and aged it in a cask that previously held single malt whisky from Islay!

At a tasting, thanks, almost no head, clear deepish brown color, light peaty aroma with vanila butterscotch and a hint of smoke, candy medicinal charred wood and peat flavor with a medium sweetness that seems out of place. lots of traits that do not blend together and the beer is not really balanced.

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks Cris. Clear amber. Aroma of malt, caramel, toffee, butterscotch, vanilla, peated whiskey, wood. Sweet flavor with caramel, toffee, whiskey, some peat, wood, and an alcohol note. Medium-bodied, quite rounded.
