Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 8/15/14
Aroma: The aroma is sweet and malty, molasses, some roasted coffee, and chocolate
Appearance: Poura a dark brown color with a medium brown head and light lace
Flavor: The taste is mid-sweet up-front with a roasty, lightly bitter close
Palate: The body is medium, it has a soft carbonation, and a mild heat on the finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty solid example of the style. There's a good, solid mix of malty flavors here, with a little bitterness for balance.

On tap @ Twisted Pine. Pours a black appearance with a dark brown head. Anise, dark chocolate, s’more, vanilla aroma. Cocoa, roasty malty, black licorice, a bit sweet flavor. One of the best beers I’ve had from these guys.

22oz bomber split at tasting. Opaque black, oily non-head. Malty, smoky, chocolate aroma. Sweet and mellow like a Porter, but a little sweet in it’s imperialness. A touch watery, Twisted Pine style. Not exactly World Class, but still enjoyable stuff. Quite mellow, with big chocolate tones. OK.

Bottle, 22oz. It pours an oily, ruby-ish black body and a small, off-white to tan head. Meaty, chocolatey aroma with coffee and some licorice. The flavor is much the same, meaty maltyness, chocolate and some coffee. Full-bodied and oily on the palate. A nice beer indeed, but too meaty for my likings. Better fresh maybe? 100917

22 ounce bottle with at least two years on it, given to me by a friend. Thanks Jeremy! Opened 6/10/10. Pours a deep, dark brown color with a thin, offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of chocolate, soy, roasted malts. The taste is chocolate, caramel, nutty notes, soy, bitter citrus hops and roasted malts. Medium-full bodied.
