This year’s version of our annual limited release introduced a new step in the process, barrel aging. After primary fermentation, this step, done in aged bourbon barrels, adds a unique element to the beer. To go along with this special process we used three types of malts, including peated malt, in the fermentation. This combination adds elements to the beer reminiscent of fine Scotch Whiskeys. East Kent Golding hops add to the Scottish influence and round out this exceptionally complex brew. Once again, the beer is finished with a bottle conditioning step and, like its predecessors, should continue to improve with age. It is extremely limited, extremely strong, and extremely original, because as we like to say around here: "It’s All About Extremes!

Bottle shared in the US. Honestly, delicious. Pours deep brown with a light, foamy off-white head. Nicely aged, with notes of toffee, caramel, brown bread, mild oxidation. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Balanced finish, warming, with more toasted bread, dates. So solid.

Bottle thanks to hophead22. Pours with a hazed golden body. Still. Aromas are of maple syrup, brandy, raisins, plum, dark fruit, vanillin, brown sugar, and alcohol. Light corked aroma. Flavors are oxidized, medium leather, sweet, brown sugar, strawberry, oak, some ester. Finishes earthy, almost a bit peat like. Mostly flat, warming and syrupy.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, over ripe fruits, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, alcohol, and some metal, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.
