A deep gold session bitter, punching above its weight in flavour. Abundantly hoppy, with subtle floral and citrus aromas. A classic bitter that is both aromatic and bursting with flavour.

On cask at the White Cross, Lancaster. After 6 straight golden ales I’m delighted to be trying any other style. It says amber though it’s on here as a bitter. Appearance - amber with a decent head. Nose - hay, toffee and a hint of red fruit. Taste - red fruit and light biscuit. The toffee follows it through. Palate - light bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - yeah, could be argued as either an amber ale or a bitter. Good ale and great to hit something more malty after 6 golden ales.

Cask at the Basketmakers Arms, Brighton. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is earth, toasty, leather, old furniture shop and dirt. The taste is toasty, earth, twig, leather, brown bread and wood with a dry finish. Light-medium body and soft carbonation. A fairly bland, twiggy number. So-so.

bottle - hazy light amber color, lingering tan head, and a caramel malt aroma... taste is mostly sweet malt with some malt bitterness lingering on the palate. It’s okay. Easy drinking.

Cask from The Old Vic, Preston. Amber brown, poured with a cream head. No carbonation and little aroma. Not great, but does the job it intends to do - a low strength session bitter.

Pleasant malty aroma. Flavour is quite mild with a light, fruity malt flavour and a balanced hop finish.
