Sour Ale Aged in Oak Barrels with Grapefruit Zest, Hibiscus, and Spanish Cedar

Our golden sour base developed a beautiful fruity acidity after 18 months in barrels. We played that sourness off of the citrusy aromatics of fresh grapefruit zest and Spanish Cedar. Then we added the iconic red of hibiscus flowers, bringing with it their cranberry-like flavor.

The result is a fun sour beer that has the look and flavor of ruby red grapefruit juice. We suggest consuming soon while the flavor is vibrant and refreshing!

Bottle at the source in a stupid lambic basket. Wine glass. Warm gold, laced, jellied iced-tea on the porch. Old wood, lemon, grass, dust. Taste is a good, aged sour. The added flavors are mostly long gone. Varnish, black tea, fuzzy pith, sour plum, lemon juice, numb gums. Ever slight bitter finish is good. Classic yet boring. Thin, very well carbed, ferment-ally gutted of texture, kinda boozy. Okay as a specimen. Boring as a new beer.
