(Bottle) Opaque black colour with creamy, pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of strong black coffee, liquorice, tar, soy sauce, pine needles, vanilla and oak. Roasted, malty taste with black coffee, citrus, grapefruit, liquorice, pine needles and vanilla. Citric finish with oak wood and some warming alcohol. Full body, smooth and rounded mouthfeel. Sweetish. A bit unbalanced and unfocused, but quite tasty and nice.

Bottled. Deep hazy brown colour with a mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, some mild smoked wet wood, ashes, vanilla and mild notes of some non-sweet berries as well. Flavour is quite similar along with some quite bitter hoppy notes. Also some slight alcohol stinging notes as well as mild barrel notes. A bit burning in the aftertaste, but still quite balanced.

Bottled. Black, faint head. Lemony licorice aroma. Sweet and grainy. Aniseed, tar and light lemon, near full bodied. Peppery licorice, slick mouthfeel. Bourbon comes to dominate the finish, as the bitterness is lower than anticipated. Right now lemon is under control, but I don’t think aging this beer is recommended.
