A dark, rich and layered stout with a wonderful silky texture and a lingering finish. We use a complex mash including roasted barley and oats along with 3 types of malt to give the beer plenty of black coffee and dark chocolate notes that make this stout intense yet approachable.

Pours virtually black from the bottle. The creamy, tan head soon fades. Very little evident aroma, but some hints of chocolate, lightly earthy. Not the most inviting. Taste is overall sweet, but with light sour and bitter undertones. Hints of brown sugar, oatmeal, molasses, chocolate. Relatively complex and well balanced despite a somewhat thin body. Overall not bad, but a lackluster palate and weak aroma drag things down a notch.

33cl Bottle at Roundhouse, during Desertfest. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of liquorice, dark fruits, molasses, caramel, roasted malts, hint of ink. Flavour is sweet, roasted malts, some chocolate, caramel, molasses, liquorice, bitter mocha finish. Medium bodied. Nice.

Bottle. Black with a nice head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, sweet and a little bit smokey. Aftertaste is burned bacon which I just can’t stand. It’s alright I guess but not my cup of tea.

Bottle at The Fiddler. Black with a small tan head. Aroma of roast, dark chocolate, coffee and toffee. Flavour is above moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle from the Portland Arms, Cambridge. Very dark brown, viscous, opaque. Small tight off-white head. Porridge with golden syrup, toast, liquorice. Some grassy hop. Gorgeous sweet taste with muted liquorice and fudge. Sweet chocolately finish. Nicely carbonated with a thick oily finish. Very well done.

Bottle, 330 ml at Majstor za Pivo, Belgrade. Pours black with beige head. Light roastiness, chocolate, oat, some dark fruit. Suga, syrupy, sticky, so sweet. Low carbonation. Medium bodied. too sweet for me.

12 oz bottle poured. A near black pour with a rocky tan foam head. A sweet, chocolate dominated aroma. Flavor is a very nice combination of sweet malt, toasty, roasted malt, sweet cream, and milk chocolate. Drinks really nice. Slight metallic, but overall a solid stout here.
