A dark, rich and layered stout with a wonderful silky texture and a lingering finish. We use a complex mash including roasted barley and oats along with 3 types of malt to give the beer plenty of black coffee and dark chocolate notes that make this stout intense yet approachable.

Appearance is pretty much pitch black, a tan head which dissipates pretty much straight away, leaving some foamy bubbles. Aroma- fudge, caramel, leather hints, some chocolate, espresso coffee, a sugary sweetness. Taste- nice and sweet, sticky, caramel, burnt treacle, toffee, dark chocolate, coffee comes through in the finish, which is smoky and sweet. Nice stuff.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with small brown head. Aroma is green grapes, sour green apples, copper, sea breeze and oysters. Taste is medium to very sweet, light bitter and faint salty. Body is creamy with soft lively carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes of sweet dried fruits (figs, raisins, dates), caramel, white sugar, soy sauce and hints of mint and iron. Very rich and well balanced.

Bottle. Literally black, small off-White foamy layer; sweetish roasty nose with a tinge of tobacco&smoke; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied and soft; sweet roasty-fruity finish with a dry bitterness in the very end. Very pleasant...

Taste is smooth, slick and roasty with some milk chocolate, coffee and oatmeal notes. Finish is sweetish, slightly roasty and slick with some coffee and dark chocolate. Sweetish, but quite balanced.

(Bottle, 0.33 - BBE Jan 2016, from Alko, 20141219) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, liquorice, coffee, chocolate and mild sourness. Palate was rather full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, sweetness, liquorice, mild sourness, earth and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, sweet and bitter. A nice stout but the sweetness grew too intense towards the finish.

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours black with a thick tan head. The nose is roasted malt, earth, coffee, treacle, cardboard and cocoa. The taste is bitter-sweet, rich roast, sweet coffee, brown sugar, brown bread, treacle, booze and burnt toffee with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Actually not too bad at all. Simple, yet not bad.

Bottle shared at the Kernel - sourced from the Drinkerβs Paradise. Lots of sugary toasted malts in the nose with nips of milk chocolate and dark fruits. Medium aweet flavor with more mild chocolae, dark sugars, vanilla, bread, light earthy bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sticky dark sugars on the finish, some cheap cocoa, burnt toast, burnt earth, dark fruits, berries. Not bad.
