Draught@Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen (2013 version). Copper colour with a foamy off-white head. Aroma is resin, zest, some grapefruit, blood orange and berries with some alcohol sweetness (which actually suits in rather nicely). Flavour is sweet malts, almonds, some blood orange with alcohol, some dried fruits, plum and mild wheat tones. Alcohol stays for a while in the finish, but not overdoing it.

Draft as Big Tony 2. A hazy dark amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of hops, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of hops, alcohol, caramel, and candy sugar, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

[Another century celebrated with a Mikkeller beer - this time 6800] A hazy amber beer with bubbly off-white head. The aroma is sweet with a complex combination of fruit, hops, grass, grapefruit, and pine needles. The flavor is a crazy explosion in the mouth - but in the good sense. It is very sweet, but in a nice juice way and not sticky as very sweet beers usually get - the sweetness is acompanied by strong hoppy notes with citrus, grapefruit, and alfa acids. Soon the alcohol makes it presence known, though in a very subtle way - especially taken the 15% ABV into account, it is more like a warming sensation on the tongue and the palate, but a very discrete one. The end is dry, sweet, and bitter - with the hops and the alcohol mixing in perfect harmony. The mouthfeel is silky soft, but the big body is felt.

On tap @ Mikkeller Bar. Copper to red color, hazy. Dense off white head with short retention. Aroma’s: sweet fruit/raisins, toffee/caramel, sweet malts, piney hops. Retronasal: sweet, toffee, a bit herbal & bitter. Flavor is sweet, caramel. Alcohol is well hidden, could have been 10% as well. Full bodied, thick mouthfeel. Long finish with flavors lingering, slightly dry, moderate bitter.

On tap at Mikkeller. It pour a deep mahogany brown & had a malty caramel aroma. The mouthfeel was slick, almost oily while the flavor was boozy, sweet but counterbalanced by hops. I felt the nice sweetness wasn’t all that cloying. A good barley wine which would probably benefit from aging.

50 cL bottle, courtesy of fiulijn - thanks a lot Alex! Pours clear and golden orange with no head. Aroma is solid hops fruity and caramelish dense malty. Sweet malty, caramelish dark roasted with a distinct peachy, grapefruity and mild citric hops flavour. Warming caramelish alcohol finish. Nice lasting hops fruity note along with this. Lovely.
