Bottle. Pours clear darkish amber with stable off-white head. Clear aroma of yeast and hops, with touches of malt and metal. Sweetish, malty flavour, with notes of fruit and caramel, and heavy touches of yeast and nuts. Sweet-sourish and slightly rough aftertaste. OK.

(bottle, 33cl, 5.2% abv) Clear, dark amber colour with a short and off-white foamy head. Mildly bready toast-malty aroma with a whiff of caramel, as well as grassy and subtle fruity hops. Slightly sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly toasted malt character with notes of caramel, bread and black tea; dry-ish, mildly bitter-sweet finish with fruity and slightly grassy hops. 10.VI.14

33 cl bottle. Pours clearand golden orange with a small white head. Toasted malty. Bitter and toasted malty. Bitter and toasted malty. Lingering fruity. Dry and bitter.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 6/27/2013. Pours slightly cloudy reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, bread, pear, apple, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with balanced bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop notes; with decent strength. Taste of big caramel, toast, toffee, brown bread, light nuttiness, light roast, herbal, grass, light pear/apple, and yeast earthiness. Slight earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, brown bread, light roast, light nuttiness, light pear/apple, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and light-moderate yeast fruitiness; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Scottish ale. Good balance and robustness of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and light-moderate yeast fruitiness; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

0,33L bottle (rebranded version). Pours clear red copper with off white head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is sweet caramel, fruits, and some English hops. Taste is very sweet caramel, dark fruits, and grass. Overall: drinkable, but nothing interesting.

Bottle from Tesco, Inverness (5.2%). It pours clear dark amber/brown with a tiny beige head. The nose is toasty, caramel, cola, dried fruits and faint smoke. The taste is toasty, earth, wood, spice, leather, cola and plastic with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Very drying mouth-feel. A bit odd and I can’t say I enjoyed the experience!

A clear golden orange pour. Big grainy malt aroma. Somewhat skunky but malty sweet nose. Smooth bodied, light caramel sweet malty. A bit skunky, tasty but mostly caramel malt sweetness with very little hops. Ok.

I think I found one of my new favourite beers. Pours a clear coppery color with about a finger of two of solid just slightly off-colour head with a decent retention. The aroma is extra nice. Some malts, some fruity smell but mostly biscuity and nutty notes, easily picked up by the nose. The taste is likewise, amazing. Starts sweet and is followed by nice biscuity body, slight bitterness towards the end, and finishes with a nice spicy finish. Easily drinkable, smooth, delicious. Just great.
