Malty and hoppy, we at Belhaven love the classic Scottish Ale and we’ve been brewing it longer than any of the other beers we produce. Delivering a sweet, smooth and creamy finish, Scottish Ale has a stunning ruby colour in the glass. Magic.

Pours deep, clear copper into a thistle. Off white head recedes to mottle surface. Dusty caramel aromas. Dry with sweet caramel and vanilla front to back. Abrupt finish.

Bottle: Clear, light amber coloured, visible carbonation, stable medium-sized creamy off-White head; sweetish caramelly nose, a bit toasty, too, some subdued herbal hops detectable; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, relatively light bodied, but still pretty soft; lingering sweet toasty-nutty finish, balanced - surprise - by some subdued bittering hops. Nice and easy...

Bottle, 0.33l. Clear amber brown color with medium creamy off-white head, fair lacing and flat visible carbonation. Aroma of caramel, toffee, biscuit malts, nuts, dried fruits and mild grassy hops. Taste starts with heavy sweet caramel and toffee, following is even sweeter nutty and fruity with almost no acidity, warming mouthfeel and moderate bitter finish. Medium to full body, syrupy texture and average carbonation in palate. Well brewed, but still not my favorite style...

Bottle pour. Pours a dark copper with a funky malt aroma. Not much head. Overall a drinkable beer. Decent malt flavor. Not bad

33cl bottle from Tesco’s, Cannonmills, Edinburgh. Deep amber with a billowing cream head; caramel aroma; sweet caramel taste with a touch of spice; and some warmth and nuttiness to the finish. Pleasant stuff.

Bottle, 5.2%. Spicy and nutty aroma. Clear chestnut colour. Good stable creamy off-white head. The flavour is a lot like the aroma. Spicy hop flavour, some nut, faintly sweet. Actually a lot like a not-so-sweet hvidtøl.
