Malty and hoppy, we at Belhaven love the classic Scottish Ale and we’ve been brewing it longer than any of the other beers we produce. Delivering a sweet, smooth and creamy finish, Scottish Ale has a stunning ruby colour in the glass. Magic.

440 ml Nitro can. Amber color with lasting cascading head as it is poured. Doesn’t really have an aroma; old malts.
Well the nice thing it has going for it is the smooth creamy texture. Other then that, not much here in terms of flavor. Weak toffee, light grain, weak bitterness in a very thin body.

Bottle 330ml @ Geokkjer
Pours clear brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, dried fruits, and hint of bread. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long malty, caramel and bready finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. An almost clear one, copper colored and with a small, off-white head. The aroma is quite malty, in a nice way, with some toffee and prunes. Not much hoppyness kicking in. It’s smooth, full-bodied and semi-sweet on the palate, wtih roasted notes, toffee, prunes, raisins and some bitterness in the flavor. Long finish on the malty side, with quite a lot of dried fruits. Decent indeed, but a tad boring I think. 150711

330ml bottle from a local B&M bargains: nice to see the 5.2% version here in the UK especially at such a low price. Anyway this live rate is taking place on 16th June 2015: I poured the bottle into a Westmalle Chalice at home with the dog at my feet. Autumnal ruddy brown with a red hue to the body, the off white head had disappeared by the time I finished writing about it: only a wisp and collar left already. Malty nose and a malty sweet flavour. The malty molasses rule the whole show although this is not sickly or over sweet, just that they dominate the hop content throughout. Smooth body feel and a delight for my sweet tooth, just wish the head could have stayed around. I do like to sit and stare at my beer before attacking it and a lack of head retention always lets a beer down in my opinion.

330ml bottle from B&M Bargains - Rich teak body, short-lived thin white head. Nose is malty, toffee, caramel and nuts. Hazelnuts I reckon. Taste is quite nice, bit bold flavours, lots of nuts in there. Quite nice.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours copper with a small off-white head. Toffee aroma. Med body or nearly. Flavor is fruit and toffee. Rather clean tasting. Maybe a bit of spice after awhile. It is malty, but there’s balancing bitterness. Glad I finally did it.
