Respite from the blistering heat or shattering cold. The Columbus and Simcoe hops make this blonde ale the perfect antidote to the elements.

500ml bottle shared at home. Hazy golden yellow with thin white head. Aromas of cereal, brown sugar and flowery soap. Soapiness gets bigger on the aftertaste. Low carbonation. OK, but didn’t really enjoy this.

0.5l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. This is a milky-straw yellow one, quite cloudy and it has a small light bubbly and sidesticking head. The nose has candied sugar, wheat, some yeast traces, bubblegum and some sweetness. It's thin and almost watery on the mouthfeel with a below average carbonation level. It's quite pungent this. Especially in the aftertaste. Starts off quite bitter, some grapefruit then it turns pungent - line the white part on the lemon zest. Not my cup of beer. 05.01.2012

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear light straw yellow with a medium frothy white head and lots of broken lace. The aroma is fruity and floral, leading to a medium bitter, zesty, hoppy flavour with some hints of fruit and honey. As blondes go, it’s not bad at all. Don’t be tempted to serve it too cool. The flavours in this one only developed after it warmed up a little in the Malaysian heat

Bottle on the train from Edinburgh - 08/12/12. Clear pale golden with a decent frothy off white head. Nose is citrus, pale malt, a touch plasticy. Taste comprises pale malt, citrus tones, bitter orange, mandarin, touch of caramel, lemon, touch of sour/tarteness creeping in. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bitter finish. Decent enough drop.

500ml bottle. Slightly cloudy golden colour with small, unstable, frothy, white head. Citrusy aroma has resemblances to a Belgian Wit, backgroundish hints of peach. Taste is citrusy, pale malty, minimally sweet hints of peach, fairly lasting, herbal, bitter hoppy finish. Light body, slightly watery.

Biggish offwhite head. Hazy paleish yellow body with light carbonation. Floral gooseberry aroma with citric notes. Dry-sweetish gooseberry and biscuits taste with citric floral notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish floral lemon zest aftertaste with grassy herbal notes. Nice and highly drinkable. Nicely filled out and mellowed by not being filtered. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

50cl bottle from Gordon and MacPhail, Elgin. Pours a cloudy golden with steady bubbles and a good head. The nose has grapefruit and a gentle oatmeal note. The taste is more of the oatcakes and grapefruit. The palate is light to medium in body and texture with a thirst-quenching and balanced finish. Overall, I enjoyed this though I was slightly biased because I had an incredible thirst so the hoppiness hit the mark.

Brown 500ml bottle, best before Feb 2010, drank Mar 09. Poured into a pint sized vase shaped glass. Looked like a good pilsner, but with a bigger head. A deep golden yellow colour, with bubbles rising up to the well formed and impressive head. Very little aroma for me, not even any hop esters or malts. The label claims three different types of hops are used, obviously none of them are for aroma, they don’t name them. The hops don’t come into the taste much either, there is a hint of citrus fruits and the beer is fairly dry and crisp, but not hoppy in any shape or form, unless my tastebuds have left me again. Drinkable and un-offensive, is about the best I can say about it. No heavy body or richness to it, just a warm day beer. It wasn’t as good as it looked.
