It was originally brewed under license, but Burton Bridge obtained the trademark in 2004 to brew 'Stairway' in it's own right.

Although 5% it drinks as easily as a 4.2% so beware. Hops used are Fuggles and Goldings.

Cask, gravity at ’Knotfest’, (Pluckets Wedding) in a field, Cubley Derbyshire, 22-05-10 Enjoyable beer that drinks quite easily for the abv. Some decent malt and hops. Touch fruity and with a bit of citrus on the nose, taste is a little fruity, bit sweet its ok. A6 A4 F6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Unclear light golden colour, off-white head. Aroma of lemon and caramel malts. Flavour is lemon, solid malty, hint of toffee, orange peel, resin. Very good.

Cask. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a lazing off-white head. Lightly citrusy aroma. Light body, flat, a little caramel and fruit with a fusty edge. Dry and hoppy finish. 160110

Cask @ GBBF 09, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear medium amber orange color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, toasted, caramel, keller, wood, light to moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average duration. Body is moderate to light, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090806]

Cask@GBBF2009. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is quite dry old wooden with some earthcellary notes as well. Also freshly cut grass mixed with some herbal notes. Flavour is vanilla, wood, fruits, some mild hebral notes as well as mild spicyness. Rather complex golden/blond ale for once.

(Cask at Kitty’s Public House, Helsinki, on 2008-08-15) Pale amber. A bit hazy. Quite long-lasting bubbly white medium-sized head. A bit yeasty , hoppyand fruity nose. Full-bodied palate, soft and dryish. Frutiness, bitterness, salty liquorice, sweetness and yeast in taste. Long aftertaste with slight bitterness.

Cask at Old Bank, Turku, Finland. Clear golden. Fruity and minerally. Medium bodied. Well rounded with soft grainy malt, fresh orangey hops and evident mineral tones. Finishes with good amounts of resiny bitterness.

Cask at the Burton Bridge Inn. Amber with a creamy white head; sour grainy aroma; thick and oily in the mouth, with smooth butterscotch and citrus flavours; and a citrus finish. Unusual, but extremely drinkable.
