Malty Ale with a touch of Rauchmalt which gives a delicate smoky flavour to accompany the sweetness from a higher mash temp.

Cask at Watford beer festival 2022. A clear mid orange coloured pour with a lasting loose off white head. Aroma is nice rustic bready grains, orange rind, woody hop, pine, grass. Flavour is composed of semi sweet nutty earthy grains, grass, hedgerow hop, light mineral. Palate is semi sweet, mineral, little thin, decent cask condition. Solid.

Cask at the Bootlegger, 11/12/16. Reddish amber with a well appointed light cream cap that retains well. Nose is sweet malts, light pine, spice, toffee, fruit esters. Taste comprises toasted bread, candied orange peel, straw, light perfume, biscuit, pine flicker, caramel. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with an earthy hop linger. Solid flavoursome cask offering ... more akin to a hoppy amber than a bitter for me.

Cask at GBBF 2009. Beer 100 of the festival and when I could safely stop rating and enjoy myself. Gold, yes, some hop, a beer that is a tribute to the De Havilland Mosquito, the first model plane I made as a boy and still my favourite. Dullish golden beer, but with more hop than usual. Good stinging dry finish.

Cask@GBBF 2009. Light amber color, small white head. Strong diacetylic aroma. Diacetyl also in the flavor, some toffee, light lemony hops. Light lime aftertaste. Not very good showing.
