Lord Marples was the first ever Thornbridge beer! Brewed in 2005 at the Hall Brewery we wanted to try a traditional style for our initial offering, and a classic Bitter seemed perfect.

It pours an attractive mahogany, bringing forth flavours of honey and caramel with just a light bitterness in the finish to keep it balanced.

It’s named after Mr Marples, a former owner of Thornbridge Hall, who enjoyed using the title of Lord while never quite achieving it officially, we thought we would bestow it upon him.

Hops: Goldings
Malts: Maris Otter, Caramalt, Crystal, Chocolate

BCA part of a Christmas present from my dad was a selection of Thornbridge Hall beers, and drunk over the New Year period whilst in Devon. Hazy amber coloured beer that poured with a slight haze. Tasted a touch sweet, was a bit fruity, some toffeee flavour, fine enough beer, but would have to go some to reach the dizzy heights of the Jaipur.

Cask @ Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. Pours a slightly hazy amber colour with a small white head. Has a fruity malty aroma. Sweet malty and very fruity flavor with hints of apples and berries. Fruity and bitter finish with a long bitter aftertaste.

[Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen] A hazy orange beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is lightly fruity, and the flavor is sweet malty with a good deal of fruit, as well as hops, leading to a bitter end. A good flavor, but the body is thin.
