The good people at Thornbridge say: Lord Marples is surprisingly smooth with light toffee and caramel characters, a mixture of floral and spicy hop notes and a pleasing bitter finish.

Cask-conditioned at the Portcullis, Bristol 17/11/09. Copper coloured with next to no head. Malty aroma of red fruit, rose petals, marzipan and some fruity hops. Sweetish malt flavour, slightly doughy, with marmalade, almonds and hedgerow hops, leading to a dryish finish. Drinkable.

Cask handpull at Coach & Horses, Dronfield. Copper, thin beige head. Malty aroma, light grapefruit hop, really drinkable best bitter. Bit of toast/caramel, lovely malty flavour and some good hop bite on finish. I could drink that all night.

Bottle. Slightly hazy, golden body with a nice off-white head. Fruity, citrus aroma. Flavor has a certain malty sweetness and fruit with a definitely bitter aftertaste. A nice and harmonic bitter with an attitude.

Bottled. It pours clear, golden, with a small, beige head. It has a balanced aroma with fruits, hops and malt. The flavor is quite hop-based, with fruityness, pines and citruspeel, but it balanceds quite nice with the malt. Thin to medium body with some stigning bitterness. The finish is long and bitter, quite intense for an English bitter. (070302)

Amber red color, decent creamy off-white head. Flowery hoppy, cut grass aroma. Nicely hoppy, basic bitter. Dry, even ashy mouthfeel. Long hoppy aftertaste.

BCA part of a Christmas present from my dad was a selection of Thornbridge Hall beers, and drunk over the New Year period whilst in Devon. Hazy amber coloured beer that poured with a slight haze. Tasted a touch sweet, was a bit fruity, some toffeee flavour, fine enough beer, but would have to go some to reach the dizzy heights of the Jaipur.
