I’ve gotten several bottles of this in trades so I’m not sure how old this bottle is. Pours a solid black with a big fluffy tan head that sticks around for a while. Nose is of chocolate syrup, a bit of perfume, some brown sugar, carob powder, a touch of alcohol. Taste hits with chocolate syrup mixed with hops. The hops push their way through the middle battling with some alcohol and dried dark fruit and winning, only to succumb to the roasted malt finish. Very complex taste, it seems I picked up something new with every sip, very nice! Mouthfeel is oily and resinous, body is medium at best, carbonation is a bit high. Very nice complex tasting stout. Lower the carbonation and up the body and I’d drink this every day.

Bottle via a trade with Cletus. Pours with a tan head and a black body. Aroma of windex, smoke, chocolate, licorice, vanilla and light fruit esters. Taste is medicinal, smoke and earthy with chocolate, raisins and a bitter/astringent aftertaste. On the thin side, with light carbonation. A stout that is more than a bit rough around the edges.

Dark greige head, dwindling over nearly pitch-black beer. Stout, liquorice, heavily roasted grains, meaty and fusels. Scorched grain, mother-of-corn and faraway Bourbon casks. Nearly full-bodied, scorched wood or grain impinging on the MF. Good beer, but there’s a discrepancy between its imag in aroma, flavour and mouthfeel, that doesn’t quite agree with me. Big thanks, CK!

Bottle: Pours a dark brown/black color with a brown head. Aromas of chocolatey and roasty goodness. Hints of molasses. Flavor is mocha based with a light roasty malt feel into some smoky notes. Seems to be a bit of dark fruit in there too. Different from the recent impys I’ve sampled and rewarding in that aspect. Thanks Jordan.
