This is an incredibly intriguing ale is made by aging our Old Heathen Imperial Stout in oak barrels that were used for making fine Kentucky bourbon! The result is an extraordinary, dark, and mysterious stout whose very essence has been enhanced. The aroma is filled with vanilla, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans. This silky-smooth brew has notes of oak, whiskey, roasted barley and vanilla that meld together on the tongue to create an incredible sensation. Heresy is released in February.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks zvikar. Black-colored with a light brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, some coffee notes, light woody hints and a bit of alcohol. Sweet malty flavor with some chocolate, light fruitiness and notes of wood. Medium to full-bodied. Decent.

Bottle @ Home. Pours pitch black with a tan head, leaving decent lacings. Aroma of roasted malts, rich dark chocolate. raisins, oak, bourbon. Taste is malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, sweet dark fruits, oak, hints of bourbon. Body is rather thin for a IPS, low carbonation. Pretty nice imperial stout, abit thin bodied, but well balanced with the oak / bourbon leaving room for the original beer to shine though. 191111

Bottle at CP&K. It pours jet black, with a decent tan head. The nose is vanilla ice cream, caramel, toffee, wood and coffee liqueur. The taste is wood, creamy, vanilla, coffee liqueur, milk chocolate, subtle roasted malt, cherry cola, caramel and a touch of salt. Full body and fine carbonation. Well hidden alcohol. Maybe a bit artificial, but very tasty nonetheless.

36 cl bottle @ home. 8% on the bottle, bottled 10.03.2011, BBE 10.11.2011
Aroma is harsh with peat some alcohol and hints of vanilla. Flavour has whiskey, vanilla, some peat, roasted malt and salti licorice. Aftertaste feels a lot like bourbon. Too much whiskey here, other elements are too well hidden behind the Bourbon. Disappointment.

Bottle 33cl. Black colour with creamy dark brown and persistent head. Aroma is fruity, gooseberry, coconut, vanilla. Taste is similar to chocolate, sweet, toasted, hints of Porto wine. On palate results full bodied, dense texture and flat carbonation. The final reminds me the tipical Porto wine. An excellent beer.

Bottle. It pours an almost black body, looking clear, with a thin beige head. Mocha, some soy sauce hints, coconut, some bourbon booze and some licorice. The flavor is a bit boring maybe, at least compared to the aroma, with licorice, coconut, coffee and bourbon. I’d really like more hops in it, but on the other hand, that might crash with the bourbon. Full-bodied and smooth, quite low on carbonation. Warming, roasted finish with a touch of cold coffee. A quite complex and tasteful beer, although not world class. 110917
