A brown-black beer with a brown head. The aroma is primarily of chocolate, but also with hints of coffee. The flavor contains notes of roasted malt, lots of chocolate on a dry background. A nice porter.

Very dark brown colour, completely opaque with a dense frothy brown head. Chocolate and roasted malt are very noticeable in the aroma. The sweetness comes from the top of the beer and is very strong and powerful. Roasted malt flavours dominate the taste with coffee flavours adding to the strong flavours as well. The palate is filled with dark chocolate and coffee bitterness for a long period of time. A pretty good beer, somewhat close to an imperial stout, but obviously more related with a baltic porter. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that should be tried if available! I bought this 650 mL bottle from Total Beverage in Thornton (Denver), Colorado.

Jet black. Dark brown, full head. Coffee, mocca nose. A herbal nose too (dandelion?). Outspoken coffee taste, also pipetobacco, -ash. There are hops in the background too. Very full mouthfeel. Carbonation gives a slight burning sensation. Long bitter aftertaste, chocolatey, dandelion. Well-made beer, but I'm not a coffee enthusiast. Update (draught, 1 year on bourbon cask) Full black, little yellow brown head (4/5). Gorgeous wooden brandy-like nose, bit tobacco, vineous, wine grapes (10/10). Slightly bitter, then very winey. Gorgeous and immenseley complex. (9/10) Very filling, velvety - creamy all the way. (5/5) This is superb. Of course, the Bourbon lagering has to account for a fair bit. Overall would be 18/20 - so rated it ends at 4.6 out of 5 - and earned every point!

Opaque - tan head that shrinks to nice lacing - smells like hoppy chocolate milk - flavor is mildly sweet and roasty - undertones of chocolate, coffee, and perhaps even plums - finished with a hop bitterness that, at first, I found enjoyable, but soon thought to be out of balance with the rest of the beer - still a great product, though.

2005 brew, tasted on tap at the brewery in July 2006: Dark chestnut colour. The aroma shows chocolate, toffee, light fruit with a background fudgey maltiness. Smooth, sweet, with fruitcake, nuts and roast in this mellow (for the style) but surprisingly complex brew. Fruity, lightly chewy finish. Good, well-made, intro Baltic.
