The citrus punch of a big IPA, minus the one-dimensional hop sledgehammer. Select specialty malts round out the edges for a complex, copper-colored brew.

Dark orange colour with thin head. Aroma has a lot of sweet fruity notes. Taste is fruity with a touch of caramel and syrup. Bittersweet.

355ml bottle. Pours copper with a good head. Grapefruit, pine resin, mango, caramel. Good full body. The epitome of a classic APA.

Probably my favourite Deschutes beer, a massive pale ale with bread, maple syrup, peach and grapefruit aromas. There are loads of lemon, grapefruit and pine aromas plus toast with a nicely rounded palate and that alcohol and grapefruit persisting in the back of the throat long after you’ve swallowed.

Bottle from J’s. Pours a clear, amber with a half finger of foam that dissipates quickly. Light pine and malty bread aromas. Clean and light, with some mineral notes, more bread, caramel and pine. Light bitter finish. Simple stuff. --- Beer merged from original tick of Nitro Red Chair NWPA on 26 Feb 2017 at 14:53 - Score: 6. Original review text: Light pine and malty bread aromas. Light citrus and some hay. A little astringent. Hazy ruby color like dirty jewelry. Good head and lacing. Bitter finish. Bottle from Whole Foods.

Bottle. Pours clear dark amber. Aroma is malt-forward, almost belgian, with some grassy and piny hops in the background. Body is medium, pines, low carbonation, with the malty bitterness usually belonging to an amber or a red ale. Lingering, lightly sweet and bitter palate. Rather a bit too much a like a syrup for me.

Tea and orange zest nose. Clear copper, thick yellow head, nice lacing. Orange, tea, fig accent. Medium body, soft carbonation. Not milquetoast at all, nice balance.
