Red Chair Northwest Pale Ale

Pours amber with a large, lasting head. Nose shows floral hops, confectionery notes, sweet malt and, interestingly enough, papaya. Bittersweet flavours with honey and sweet biscuity malt followed by spicy, piny hops and an assertive, sharp bitterness. Body feels a little watery and undercarbonated.

Into a pint glass.
She pours a clear amber almost brown body with a one finger white foamy head that leaves some strong foamy clingy lacing.
The smell has some sweet malty/biscuitiness and a grassy sort of hops, some slight floral notes come through as it warms.
The taste is sweet through the previously mentioned flavors and has a grainy yet somewhat malty aftertaste and a sweet sticky finish.
On the palate, it sits about a medium, comes across sessionable with an adequate carbonation.
Overall, this is a great APA that I would have again.

Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed prior to going to a record fair on a cold Sunday afternoon. Appearance is a clear reddish amber with a rich frothy white head. Aroma has a nice citrusy hop profile with malty undertones. Taste finishes mostly hoppy with a nice crisp aftertaste, moderate body, very drinkable, I could definitely have more than one. Good stuff!

Tap at Deschutes, Portland. Colour is clear copper with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, citrus, floral, hops and malts.

Bottled:
Clear amber with a large, thick head. Aroma is cookie dough, toffee, dried fruit and dark currants. Flavour is sweet toffee, shampoo, resin and hops. Long and bitter finish.

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours tiny hazy deep golden with a rather big frothy and creamy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is slightly malty, slightly fruity and tiny herbal with bread, caramel, grapefruit juice, freshly cut grass, pine needles, moist soil, peaches, mango and lemon zest. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter and fruity with sweet dark bread, biscuits, caramel, grapefruit juice, pineapple juice, peaches, mango, starfruit, freshly cut grass, passionfruit, gooseberries, pine needles, moist soil and resinous wood. Mouthfeel is round, slightly crisp, slightly astringent and light to medium bodied. Finish is bitter, herbal and tiny fruity with bread, grapefruit rinds, lemon zest, grass, pine, unripe tropical fruits, lemon balm and black currant leaves. Good but I imagine it’s much much better fresh...

Bottle from Systembolaget. Clear amber with a white head. On the sweet side with toffee, dried fruit, malt, nuts and some citrus. The finish was fairly bitter.

Flaska från Systembolaget. Mörkt bärnstensfärgad med vitt skum. Söt doft, syltig, nästan juiceig i doften. Det syltiga är borta i smaken och fram träder en maltsötma som fint matchar beskan. Medellång eftersmak.
