Bottle on Amtrak Train 27 - The Empire Builder ( from Binny’s South Loop) - 04/11/12. Lightly hazed amber with a big off white head that soon thins. Nose comprises malts, toffee, dark berry fruit, sugared candy, orange peel and spice. Taste follows nose with toffee, fruit loaf, fruits, raisens, dates. Medium bodied with a punch and fine carbonation.

From a 1 Pt 6 Fl Oz bottle on 4/10/2012. Pours a clear reddy amber with a big head which disappears quickly. Has a surprisingly slight malty aroma with some fruit notes. This one is quite sweet with caramel and fruit (which must be the pomegranate), with some medium, lingering hops. But it presents as malty more than anything else. This is a reasonably enjoyable sweet, biggish, fruity brew, but fails to hit any real heights.

big pomagrante, malty, a touch sour, full bodied. Interesting, but not over the top.

12oz bottle poured into an English Pint...because I can. Pours a very cloudy ruby/brown with a half finger of white head. Aroma of pomegranate, sweet citrus fruits and a little bread. Taste is light bitter and light sweet. Loads of bready malt with some caramel and a little pomegranate on the aftertaste. Full bodied with a thin and slick texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, this is not exactly my style but I can drink it. I probably wouldn’t drink it again and I definitely wouldn’t suggest it to someone who is looking for a "fruit beer".

12 oz bottle from the Holiday Sampler pack. Pours hazy burnt orange with a medium cream-colored dissipating head. Aroma is malty, fruity, a bit funky. Taste is lightly sweet and faintly tart with a slightly dry bitter finish. Carbonation is soft, body is medium. Good.

Pours orange-amber into a tulip. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to hint rim. Sweet pomegranate and caramel aromas. Medium bodied with sweet pomegranate and caramel upfront turning to an earthy bitter pith finish.

22 oz. bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours dark amber / orange brown with a medium beige head. Aroma of citrus fruits, pomegranate (obviously), mango, and citrus hops. Flavour is pretty muted - the aforementioned fruits, with a bitter tangy finish. Palate is dry and not overly complex. Decent attempt but I'd say it's off the mark.

On tap. Pours with a clear copper-gold hued body with a small off-white head. Aromas are fruity, malty, dates, pomegranate, estery, dark fruits. Quite a complex smelling malt bill. Minimal hop character. Flavors of honey, lightly tart finish, bready and toasty. Rich malt profile (nearly melanoidins). Estery, fruit, pomegranate in the finish. Raisins. Lively bubbles and a creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol is decently well hidden. Actually this was a lot better than I thought it would be.
