Amber-coloured tenacious beer, brewed to give a rounded malted flavour Add to this the balanced bitterness of traditional English hops and this real ale really does charm a spicy, blackcurrant aftertaste

(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 1 Aug) Mahogany colour with almost no head. Fruity nose with notes of dried fruit and raisins. Fruity taste with dried fruit, black-currant and blackberries. Blueberries and some hops in the finish. Goes down, but hardly exciting.
