  Weizen - Hefeweizen Regular
Score
5.82
ABV: 5.0% IBU: - Ticks: 22

0,33 l bottle. New clear corporate identity label. Bought today at Citti Markt, Lübeck. Pale murky golden in the glass, small head for a Hefeweizen. Mostly yeast on the nose, little bit wheat and very low banana. Taste starts shortly yeasty, then increasing citrus and overripe banana with wheat. Thin version of a Hefeweizen.

Tap at Fuchsbau. Dusty nose, banana, clove, butterscotch . Cloudy orange, offwhite head. Medium light dry body. Dry fruity start, a bit diacetyl, light sour, fennel, pepper - unusual spicyness, not super harmonic.

Bottle: Golden, hazy, small and stable white head with a yeasty touch and a delicate bitter(!) Background; sweetish-sourish flavour, not without a hoppy touch, medium bodied, a bit tart; slightly lingering delicate peppery-hoppy finish, wheat and barley underneath. Unusual and a bit different from Bavarian samples; but a nice one...

Draught @ the brewpub. Pours cloudy straw with stable white head. Clear aroma of yeast, with notes of hops and touches of banana. Sweetish flavour of yeast, banana and raw malt, enhanced by bitter, hoppy notes. Rough, estery aftertaste. OK but nothing really special.

(bottle, 33cl) Cloudy, orange-golden colour with a big and firm, minimally off-white foamy head. Yeasty, fruit-accented and wheaty aroma with a heavy load of banana, traces of apricot, accompanied by shy clovy notes. Moderately sweet and mildly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate, even a bit tame carbonation for a Hefeweizen. Present wheat character with notes of banana, also some mineralic hints towards the slightly rough finish with bitter yeasty notes and a tinge of metal at the very end. Finally not particularly rounded. 06.V.14
