This 5.2% black IPA burns the line between an American IPA and a stout, with malt and hops firing on all cylinders, in psychotic synchronicity. Roasty, chocolate and coffee notes duke it out with citrus, mango and pine. Pithy bitterness plays off roasty dryness. Light bodied, but with the intensity of a beer twice its size.

Bottle from BottleDog, Edinburgh. Dark brown body with a medium beige head. Good lacing. Aroma of pine, coffee, ash and black pepper. Flavour of coffee, toast, roasted malt and orange pith. Thin to medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. Thin but tasty.

330ml bottle from Brewdog online store. Pours black in colour with a foamy beige head leaving some lacing and aroma of mango tropical fruit, pine and some roasted malts. Taste is tropical fruits, zesty citrus, hoppy, pine, alongside roasted malt and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry tangy roast bitter finish. Very drinkable black IPA.
