Pivo hnědo-černé barvy se zlatými odlesky, silné a plné chuti, s velmi jemným karamelovým dozvukem, středním řízem, hustou pěnou a střední intenzitou hořkosti.

Dark brown with a lasting off-white head. Rich aroma of caramel, toffee, toasted and roasted malts. Sweet toffee malt flavour balanced by fine roasted notes. Indeed a very good dark Czech.

Žatec Dark Lager (2016 rating) Thanks Mladen! Shared with Hammertroll. Pale copper/amber body with an off white head. Dry sweetish caramelly aroma. Empty taste, mild caramel, metallic note, dryish, very light dog food. Very watery. Damn... I really hope this is a different beer from the Xantho as Xantho used to be a damn good one. Keeping the Xantho numbers in case the Dark is proven to be different. 6/4/4/2/9 Žatec Xantho (2008 rating)Sample at the Vinarna Hrozen RBESG tasting from a bottle supplied by.. asheft I think (thanks!) Very dark brown colour. Lovely nose. A pungent aroma of roast malt, caramel and raisins. A very sweet caramel tastes with notes of something I can’t decypher from my notebook. Go me. Overall, thought that it was a very good beer and certainly the highlight of the night until then. Bringing these to the tasting was a great idea.

bottle, bought in a supermarket in Louny. Clear dark brwon colour with an amber touch, large beige head. Full-bodied and very malty with hints of roasted malt, toffee and caramel. Rounded by Saaz hops which results in a bitter-sweet character and a dry finish.

Lahev (333ml, diky Quack-Ducku!): Clear, deep amber coloured, quite firm yellowish to off-white foam, dense dark-malty and roasted-malty nose with a touch of dark berries and a tinge of molasses, backed by some delicate (ŽATEC = SAAZ !) hops; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied, soft MF; toasted malt and molasses in the sweet-bitter finish. well crafted czech Dunkel, reminds You a bit of a thinnish german Doppelbock........

(33cl bottle with thanks to Quack-Duck) Clear, chestnut-brown colour with a mid-sized foamy head. Sweet, toast-malty nose with toffee, slightly molassy and almost Bock-like with shy notes of milk chocolate. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Robust dark and toast-malty, earthy taste with caramel/toffee; moderately sweet, toasty malt-accented finish with a discreet, slightly floral hoppy touch. Has something of a diluted Bock.
