To commemorate our annual midwinter celebration "Dark Mass", we summoned an Irish export-style stout with a sacrilegious amount of heritage rye (including raw rolled, malted, toasted and roasted rye) as well as Nicaraguan cacao husk for a complex and warming winter tribute.

Can. Nearly black with a modest light tan head. Aroma is roasty, woody, spicy and chocolaty. Had some beers with cacao husks before and it's an interesting and distinctive ingredient. Lowish carbonation is well judged. A little sweet but with various drying elements - bitterness, woody husks, spices, roast. I like the weight here - everything has room to move, it's not shouty at all.
