Tom Paine is a premium dry hopped bitter named after the celebrated radical who lived in Lewes in the late eighteenth century. America celebrates 'Independence Day' on the 4th of July and in Britain CAMRA has designated July 'Independents Month' in celebration of Britain's independent brewers.

50cl bottle found in Hastings. Golden amber with a ring of white head; rich malty aroma with a touch of sozzled raisins; full and fruity malt aroma; with a dry, solidly bitter finish with lingering hops. A rather good ESB.

Bottle 27,5 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a clear deep golden with a small off-white head. The aroma has yeast and British hops and is slightly phenollic too. Medium body, low carbonation, a little caramel and nuts - again metallic accents. Dry and hoppy finish. 050211

27.5 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is slight hoppy spiced and herbal. Sweet, hoppy and slight fruity. Sweet and lingering hoppy finish.

Bottle from Theatre of Wine, Greenwich. Amber pour with a white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, butterscotch, licorice, warm bread. Flavours of cinammon, butterscotch, toffee. Sweet and malty.

Bottle at the Relentless Thirst Tasting on 08/29/2009. Clear copper body with a small white head. Big fruit and caramel aroma. Sweet fruit flavor with some caramel and light earthy hops. Medium body with moderately low carbonation.

Peaches N Cream jump out into the nose. A big hoppy mouth that is fairly rich with apples and dried fruit and a touch of caramel. Decent English ESB

Bottle 275ml.Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, berry, wood, raisin and prune notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090730]

Bottled@ChrisO. Orangeish golden colour, small foamy beige head. Aroma is nectar, some fruityness, some grapefruit and mild wooden and citrusy notes. Flavour is very sweet plummy, nectary and fruity.
