At the Royal Oak, London SE1 27/1/09. Deep amber with a slight, off-white head. Gentle aroma of slightly sweet malts and grassy hops. Savoury malt flavour, with a touch of apricot and a decent leafy hop, dry finish. A good pasteurised beer.

Reasonably hoppy and lightly spiced. More malty than most. Not too much body. Average.

275ml bottle, courtesy of Wivi-Ann and Andrew. Golden brown body with a slight haze. Topped by a moderate white head. Malty aroma mixed with late fruits. Assorted flavours of smoky malts, dried fruits and spicies that works well together. Bittersweet finish. Good mouthfeel (17.03.2008)

Bottle. Aromas of darkish fruits and floral hops. Ruby toned amber color with a white head that failed to establish itself. Thin to medium in body with mild, creamy carbonation. The flavor is woody, dark fruit, bitter, roast. Must be floral hop, but the dark fruit bit is puzzling. The finish is very well balanced between sweet and bitter/dry. It’s not really complex, but it’s not all that simple. Just excellent. Brilliant, even.

Bottled(275ml). -at the Royal Oak, London.
Clear amber coloured, small tan head. Sweet malty, flowery and hoppy aroma with fruity and grainy notes. Maybe served a little bit too warm. My girlfriend liked it more than I did.

Pour is a amber with a small white head. Aroma is musty and of strong apple cider. Flavor is very bitter with notes of dark fruit and caramel. Very dusty and dry on the swallow. A nice example of and Engilsh ale.

500ml bottle from Cask & Glass in Tonbridge. Now this I like. Copper with thin white head. Beautiful caramel/yeast/hop aroma. Just the essence of an English ale. 5.5% beer but easy drinking. Sweet brown sugar and orange with bready yeast. Starts sweet in mouth, then caramel then perfect bitterness. Will definitely buy a 2nd and 3rd bottle. Highly enjoyable and remarkably well made. 4.2/5

A very nice bitter. Light brown, low carbonation. Very smooth palate. Mildly bitter from the hops.

Amber color. Simple but nice hop aroma. Quite hoppy flavor, good, without being too bitter; enough malt and caramel; touch of liquorice. Delicate, quite good, well brewed.
