Bought a few sets of these when they came out, and played the game a few times, must have been Christmas ’09. Nice idea, although the base beer wasn’t that exciting, there were obvious differences between the four beers. Not obvious enough for me to get any of them right, mind you. They should do this again with some new varieties.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. (Guessed Cascade was Styrian Golding). Pours a slightly hazy yellow with a small, rough off-white head. Sweet, citrusy and lightly perfumy nose. Medium body, sweet and malty with some fruitiness. Slightly bitter finish. Nice one. 161209

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a thin lazing head. The aroma has notes of citrus, straw, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, bread, and hay, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle that was kindly passed onto me by Craig, consumed in a field at Towersey Festival, Oxon, 31-08-09 Pours gold with a small white head. The aroma was slight and instantly reminded me of a typical British bitter. This tasted ok but much like the other three this was a fairly boring base beer and the hops were not that easily identifiable, had they have been as aggresivly hopped as the Mikkeller single hop series of beers than I think that I may have faired rather better. Once again I note that I guessed the same as the Wolf (Bramling Cross) and yet again I got this wrong. Like the Saaz (which I didn’t think was Saaz) this was a slightly better beer, and completed my record of getting none correct 0/4 A6 A3 F6 P3 Ov12 3.0

Bottle at home along side the other 3 in the set. Really pleased that i managed to work out which hop was which before i scratched off the answer... Golden amber ... Pine resins nose ... juicy pine ... bright hop ... light malt ... Is this the main hop in American IPA?
